In an article in The Oregon Daily Journal of Portland, Oregon on June 20, 1919 it states that:PANAMA CANAL IS HANDLING CRAFT WITHOUT DELAYS Captain O. Fredrickson Here to Take Command of New Ship; Has Made Two Trips Recently. PASSAGE TIME, EIGHT HOURS Vessels Travel Under Own Steam Except When Passing Through Locks, When Locomotives Aid. Shipmaster’s … no difficulty or delays in passing the rough the Panama canal these days, say Captain O. Fredrickson, who has taken two Portland-built wooden steamers from the Pacific to the Atlantic via the canal, and who is now here to command one.
