Having tapped multiple resources Skye Research has gathered stories of the Captains of the past. Currently the regional focus is the Redwood Coast. Through the voice of reporters, researchers, historians and descendants you can learn stories of valor, courage and life aboard a merchant vessel, often a wooden steam powered schooner, that plied the Pacific Coast between Portland, Oregon (graveyard of the Pacific and San Francisco, California. Personal events such as births weddings and parties will be included to allow perspective that these men were also pillars of their communities that began the civilizations that currently exist in the region. Shipping was the only means of transportation for decades before the coastal highway was forged.
