In an article in the Morning Oregonian on January 15, 1908 it states that: SCHOONER LIGHT SIGHTED Captain Dahlquist Believes He Got Glimpse of Overdue Vessel. MARSHF1ELD. Oregon January 14. Dahlquist. of the schooner Bertie Miner, which arrived here from San Pedro after being out 40 days, sighted what he is quite sure was the three-masted schooner Lucy, now out 50 days from San Pedro and bound for the Umpqua River, and for the welfare of which there has been considerable alarm felt On January 2, about 60 miles off Heceta Head, a schooner thought to be the Lucy was sighted, but the Bertie Miner was not near enough to make sure Captain Dahlquist. with the Bertie Miner, arrived off Coos Bay December 15, but was unable to get an answer to a distress signal and put out to sea again.
